OVERVIEW

An asemic font assembled from markings on my great grandmother’s pottery, turning her visual language into a written language. In the process of 3D scanning her ceramic works, the images textures created in the scanning process became a source for a 26-character font.

ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ

SOURCE IMAGES

When I 3D-scanned my great grandmother’s pottery, the process generated both a 3D model and an image texture. Using these flat image textures as my main source, I traced dozens of little marking on the pottery to form the basis for the font’s character set.
