About //

Space Time is a visual prototype for a productivity app that focuses on taking away the stress of time limits through an interplanetary-themed customizable schedule.

Created in Abode XD with Jivan West, Nikhil Madhu, and McClain Martensen, Space Time allows you to chart your daily itinerary as planets rather than due dates, focusing on helping you break down your tasks into components and reflecting on your productivity.

Design Process

Design Process //

In the initial ideation stage, my team and I considered some common stressors and issues we had with our perception of time on a day-to-day basis. Often, we felt that our lives were perhaps overly scheduled down to the minute, that we desired an ability to do things at our own pace, that we found it difficult to make time for hobbies and social activities due to work, and more.

We sought to make a prototype for an app that reduces those stressors by representing your day without the use of time; through many stages of ideation and prototyping, we settled on a space-themed app that helps you focus on the tasks and not the time, allowing you to arrange your day in a non-linear fashion by charting your path across planets.

Digital Drafts

Before creating the functioning visual prototype, each member of our team created there own series of static screens in Adobe XD to explore different visual approaches to the app. After making these drafts independently, we reconvened and found ways to merge our ideas together or focus in on the core components of our app.

My visual draft, which includes an opening page, a home screen, the process of adding a new task/planet, and a captain’s log to reflect on productivity

McClain’s visual draft, which includes an opening page, a home screen, a customization screen for the ship, a calendar, and a task/planet creation screen

Jivan’s visual draft, which includes an opening page, a home screen, a task category screen, and a task editing mode

Nikhil’s visual draft, which includes a opening page, a home screen, a task editing page, and a planet viewing page

Final Snippets

In our final version of the visual prototype, we had functioning buttons, animations, and UI layouts that allowed users to navigate through their tasks, add new tasks to their route, customize options, and reflect on their productivity in a mindful way.

In the final prototype, my contributions mainly included the screens I originally drafted (like the captain’s log and the “add planet” steps) and the interaction animations.
