Trudy: Asemic Font

Trudy is an asemic font based on the surface markings of my great grandmother Trudy Strauss’s pottery. After 3D-scanning dozens of her ceramics, I traced various markings on the image textures of these 3D models in order to create an abstracted font, turning my great grandmother’s visual language into a written language. I’ve brought this font back into the 3D realm it originated from by creating animated 3D posters in Blender.

In addition to a font pack made using the software Glyphs, I created a typographic poster, as well as multiple 3D animated videos that showcase the characters in the typeface.
